The project aims to establish an agricultural research and training centre through the adaptive reuse of existing buildings and the reconfiguration of open spaces that currently share little more than physical proximity.

The project begins with the need to establish a clear hierarchy of open and built spaces, giving identity and meaning to the places, the buildings and the relationships between them.

​

Starting from the need to regenerate the open spaces and provide facilities for research and training, the project introduces a new spatial organisation shaped by the intended uses and activities.

 

The modelling of the terrain within the large central open space becomes an opportunity to establish a coherent and clearly defined system of relationships between the new buildings and the activities they accommodate, the existing buildings undergoing renovation and adaptive reuse, and the pathways and gathering spaces that connect the different parts of the new centre.
