1. Piazza della Vittoria: the lower viewpoint, new eco-stone paving and lawn. 2. School bus waiting area. 3. Local bus stop. 4. New paving for Piazza della Vittoria. 5. Proposed parking areas. 6. Proposed parking areas: the middle viewpoint. 7. A landscaped recreational area: the middle viewpoint. 8. The upper viewpoint, starting point for tourist trails, and new parking areas.

Campovico is a small village within the Municipality of Morbegno. Like many neighbouring hamlets, its public space is modest in scale and consists of only a few essential elements.

Its distinctive character lies in the overall structure of the territory, particularly in its topography and the relationship between the valley and the surrounding hills. The project seeks to re-establish spatial continuity between the areas identified in the competition brief, drawing on the relationship between urban space and the natural topography. To achieve this, it proposes to conceive of these areas as three viewpoints, three urban rooms in which to play, rest and enjoy the landscape.

The viewpoints offer fixed perspectives on the landscape. By contrast, Via Roma, which is also part of the competition brief, not only connects them but also acts as a dynamic space, where the perception of the valley and the urban environment changes as one moves along it. By bringing Via Roma and the viewpoints together into a coherent system, the project strengthens the relationship between the village and its surrounding territory.

Project Elements: Trees

Project Elements: Parking Areas and Public Roads

Project Elements: Public Lighting System

The project is guided by the principle of achieving maximum economy of intervention. Most of the existing trees are therefore retained. Only along the lower viewpoint does the proposal involve relocating four trees, while the middle viewpoint is the only area where new planting is introduced.

The lighting scheme is based on two types of light sources: point and linear. Point light sources consist of lighting poles no more than three metres high, designed to illuminate the main access points to the proposed public spaces. Linear lighting is integrated at ground level or beneath the seating, highlighting the transitions and thresholds between the different spaces.
